We continued our trip south down Lake Champlain with some of the most breathtakingly beautiful scenery of the whole trip. It’s just impossible to capture the detail, depth, and expanse of the mountains with a phone camera.
I know that purple mountains majesty refers to the ranges out west, but this view brought it to mind.

Rainy and cold today so we’re staying put.
Now that we’re back in the U.S., we are still seeing many French Canadians. We learned five years ago that it makes sense for them to keep their boats in places like Rouses Point and Plattsburgh NY as well as Burlington VT because it’s only about an hour and a half drive from Montréal. And despite many Canadians staying away from the U.S. last summer and especially this summer, some are stuck with their U.S. marinas because they bought their boats here and would be subject to high taxes if they were to bring them back to Canada. Plus, as we learned from our own experience on the Saint Lawrence River, there is not much pleasure boating around Montréal. Despite all that, several mom and pop marina owners told us that business is way down because Canadians are not coming down to the U.S. and that was even before the trade war started in earnest.
