We had just a short journey today. We wouldn’t have left at all for a few days since Waterford is a free city dock, but we needed a pump out before we hunkered down out of the Nor’easter.
The Troy Federal Lock was the LAST LOCK OF OUR JOURNEY!!!! But just before we were about to enter the lock, wouldn’t you know it, we were stopped and boarded by the Coast Guard again. *SIGH* We’re beginning to get a complex. In case you were wondering – I was – the Coast Guard does not require probable cause to board and search your boat. Thankfully, they didn’t search us. It appeared to be another training exercise, this time for a safety inspection (we passed). They were looking for at least two fire extinguishers, labeling that says we can’t dump oil or waste, flotation devices and life jackets, and rags and a bucket to clean up any accidental oil or diesel spills. Somehow, I liked this group a lot better. Maybe because they didn’t confiscate my dinner. But they still walked all through the boat with their big, black, combat boots.
