Peter walked to the bakery in the morning to get some butter tarts and croissants. These are some of the houses and building he saw a long the way.
A very easy day today with just four locks in six miles all of which were open and ready for us as soon as we arrived. It only took us an hour and a quarter to get to Percy’s Reach, and we settled quickly on a nice peaceful, shaded lock wall.

Peter made a friend in the lock manager who was very interested in Peter’s time funding the National Park Service. Peter in turn learned a lot about the lock operations.
We ended up spending three nights at the Percy’s Reach lock wall, partly because we’re waiting for a package to arrive in Trenton, but also because we have the wall to ourselves and each day and evening we enjoyed our dinners outside listening to the osprey, finches, geese and mourning doves. We also watched a beaver gathering sticks and leaves for his dam although we couldn’t see where he was building.
