We had an hour to the first lock in Hastings. We waited for a few minutes on the blue line for the lock to open and then a Ranger Tug came in the lock behind us. This time, we weren’t accosted by fishing lines on the other side like we were coming the other direction.
After we were through the lock, the couple from LA in Ranger Tug decided to pass us right when we were in a narrow area between two big concrete blocks from an old bridge or something. He didn’t even bother to radio us 🙄. And then who should we see waiting at the next lock. In all fairness though, I think they stopped to let their dog out and eat some lunch. So we locked through together again with us in front. And then they passed us AGAIN! This time waking us considerably. Their need to be in front was actually laughable, because of course they had to wait for us in the next three locks.

We stayed at the town dock in Campbellford. They were waiting for us with a sign with the boat’s name on it. And then they insisted on taking our picture.

Right next to the dock, there was a little park with a giant toonie. Loonies are the name for the one dollar coin in Canada, named as such because they have a picture of a loon – the bird, not an insane person 🙂 Thus the two dollar coin is called a toonie (two loonies).
