Thurs July 30: Killarny to Bustered Islands

Nebo couldn’t save the route because we didn’t have cell service.

We made the unfortunate decision not to go all the way to Makinaw City, our thought process being that we can get to Makinac Island by car and by ferry but we’ll never have the chance to anchor around the islands of Georgian Bay again.  So Killarny will mark our half way spot, having traveled 1,300 miles in about two and a half months.

It’s been brought to my attention that some of our videos aren’t available, so I’m going to start creating links for them instead of embedding them in my posts.  Here’s one of us leaving Killary:  https://photos.app.goo.gl/kr97Sus1d9cqZvox8

There were a few cottages in the channel leading out of Killarny. This is another one with a float plane docked out in front:

As we left Killarny we could see the La Cloche Mountains on the horizon.
And suddenly little to no sign of civilization as we headed back onto Georgian Bay.

Today’s cruising was the most spectacular of the trip so far. It didn’t hurt that it was glorious sunny morning.

Soon we entered Collins Inlet which led to Mill Lake and then to Beaverstone Bay.

The cottages have been few and far between, and those we seen have solar panels and pump water right out of the bay.
Collins Inlet led to a deceptively shallow Mill Lake
We anchored back in the Bustered Islands again, this time on the west side.
