Mon-Wed July 20-22:  Wani Bay to Parry Sound

July 20:  We enjoyed another gorgeous, but windy cruising day.  This area of Georgian Bay is called the 30,000 Islands, and in my opinion it puts the Thousand Islands to shame. Of course, it’s much less populated and of the houses here, all but a very few are much more modest, presumably because of the cost to build on islands accessible only by boat.

We suddenly encountered a lot of other boat traffic as we got closer to Parry Sound.

Peter made several Sécurité calls when we approached Seven Mile Narrows and Two Mile Narrows.  Luckily we got through before the Island Queen because there definitely would not have been room for both of us to pass, and the Island Queen was not gonna be the one to have to turn around.

We just made the 1:30 PM opening at this railroad bridge, although we had the radar mast down in case we didn’t. I’m not sure we would have fit under even so.

But maybe the people in this long line of cars waiting for the bridge to close didn’t feel the same way.

We were back to full-throttled civilization again when we reached Parry Sound, but where else could you have dinner next to float planes taking off and landing, a moose, and a ferry?

July 21: We ate at Henry’s for their supposedly world-famous fish and chips.  Have to say it was pretty darn good and the first time I’ve had pickerel.
