Sun-Tues July 12-14: Orillia

July 12: Life has a way of changing your best-laid plans. I have to have a minor procedure on my eye tomorrow, so fitting under the bridge will have to wait. Fortunately, it seems I can get it done without any recovery time, and then we can be on our way.  Maybe the bridge will be fixed by then!

July 13:

You only need one eye to go kayaking.

I received some great news from the ophthalmologist – I have something called vitreous separation, but it hasn’t caused any retinal detachment, so the laser procedure to reattach is not necessary. I just need to follow up in 4-6 weeks with my ophthalmologist at home. Yay!

We received word that the bridge will likely be open tomorrow, but it’s important to go through early because the heat will likely cause it to close again in the afternoon. We planned to stay another day when we thought I’d have to have the procedure done, which is just as well because we don’t like moving through the locks when it’s very hot.

July 14: The bridge opened this morning! Many of the boats that had started to pile up here at the marina got through already. We didn’t put the bimini or radar mast back up in case it closes again.
