This was a LONG day of locking. We locked with Under the Bridge until Campbellford. We had a long wait, about half an hour, at lock 13 for other boats to lock through. Had we known how long the wait was, we would have tied up to the “blue line,” which is a temporary space on the lock wall painted blue where you tie up to indicate you are ready to lock through. Instead, we circled in front of the lock.

We had another wait at Healy Falls (lock #15). According to the lock staff, there was a “kinda shaky” houseboat in the lock, and even though there was room for us to pull in as well, they didn’t want to risk the houseboat hitting us. This time we wised up and took what turned out to be a welcome break on the blue line. Healy Falls is a flight of locks, so we only moved forward a few hundred feet before we went straight into the next lock.
