It was breezy, cool, and overcast this morning. We were anxious to get to the Clayton City dock because the weather was predicted to deteriorate again, and we wanted easy access to laundry and a supermarket if we were going to be stuck again. Plus, our time will be far from wasted in Clayton because we’d like to take a tour boat out to Boldt Castle amongst the Thousand Islands (of which there are actually 1,864) and let someone else do the docking for a change.
On our way to Clayton, mainland New York was to our south (right), and Wolfe Island in Canada was to our north (left). Once we came off Lake Ontario, we were on the St. Lawrence River. If we continued through the Thousand Islands, the river would take us all the way to Montreal in about 150 miles. But we’re not going there yet. We plan to make a U-turn back around the Thousand Islands and then get on the Trent-Severn River and Canal system towards Georgian Bay.
