Well, the thunderstorms they called for didn’t materialize until about six this evening, so we could have moved today after all, but then we wouldn’t have been able to watch the waterski practice going on right next to the boat.

The cargo trains come through about every hour, and often less, right behind the marina, blaring their horns to deliver your Amazon Prime packages. It’s actually comical how loud the train whistle and clicity-clack is. We have to pause our conversations until the trains pass.

We were glad that we started the locks when we did because the first flight of locks (#2-6) has been closed “due to mechanical issues.” If one is closed, they have to close the whole flight, because there isn’t anywhere to stop in between. It’s likely the docks in Troy and Waterford are probably full of boats now waiting for the locks to open.
