Sat May 23: Cape May NJ

The wind continues to be strong and relentless.  Good thing we’re wearing ourselves out during the day, or the water slapping on the hull and the creaking, groaning, screeching dock lines would keep us awake.  Just kidding.  They keep us awake.  Peter’s got seven lines tied to the boat, most of them on the port side to keep us from blowing out into the Atlantic while we’re not sleeping.

Such a shame the weather is like this for Memorial Day weekend and all the beach goers.  On a bright note, we’ve met two other very nice boating couples who are stranded here just like us.  We’re going to have dinner together tomorrow night, and we plan to buddy-boat with one of the couples if we finally get out of here on Tuesday to Atlantic Highlands.

I’ve had several requests to see what the inside of the boat looks like, so here you go:

This is a picture Peter took when we first bought the boat. It’s taken from the double doors at the stern of the boat toward the V-berth in the bow. Down the steps to the left is the galley (boat talk for kitchen). Down the stairs to the right is the head (boat talk for potty), and down the stairs straight ahead is the stateroom (Haha – stateroom – with what is supposed to be a queen-sized bed. Peter says not even Queen Victoria couldn’t fit in that bed. It’s maybe a little larger than a full.)
Please note the lovely seat cushion my niece crocheted for Peter’s Xmas present.
A little more cluttered in the salon today than when we first bought it.
The galley.
The head (I wonder why it’s called a head when it’s the other end that sits there?) and shower
Queen Victoria’s bed
My closet next to the bed
Rainy day out the window of the salon
